UCC Bishop Denies Bible: Says New Testament Is Not God’s Word, Proposes New Scripture and a Third Testament to be Written

A stunning and deeply troubling statement is sending shockwaves through the Christian world as a United Church of Christ bishop publicly rejected the authority of the New Testament and called for what she described as a Third Testament.

In her remarks, the bishop claimed that the New Testament is not truly the Word of God, but merely the word about God. She went further, suggesting that parts of Scripture are problematic and should be removed altogether.

This is not a minor disagreement.

This is a direct challenge to the authority of God’s Word.

This Was Foretold

The Bible warned that this day would come.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears” (2 Timothy 4:3).

What we are witnessing is a turning away from truth. A rise of teaching shaped by culture instead of Scripture. A generation being told that God’s Word must evolve to remain relevant.

This is not new. It is prophetic.

Rewriting the Word of God

The call for a Third Testament reveals the deeper issue.

This is not about interpretation. This is about authority.

Because if Scripture can be edited, removed, or replaced, then it is no longer the foundation. It becomes optional.

But God’s Word is not optional.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away

Matthew 24:35

To suggest that the Bible needs revision is to place human opinion above divine truth. Once that happens, the foundation begins to crumble.

A Growing Divide in the Church

This is not just a theological disagreement. This is a defining moment for the Church.

Scripture warned that people would turn away from truth and embrace teachings that align with their desires rather than God’s Word.

The call for a Third Testament is not about clarity. It is about control. It is about reshaping God’s Word to fit modern ideology instead of allowing God’s Word to shape us.

For generations, the Bible has stood as complete, authoritative, and unchanging.

The idea that humanity can now edit, remove, or replace that Word is not just controversial. It is dangerous. Because once the authority of Scripture is broken, everything else begins to fall with it.

The Real Battle

This is not just about one bishop. It is about the future of the Church. If the New Testament is dismissed, then the teachings of Christ are no longer absolute. If Christ’s words are no longer absolute, then the very foundation of Christianity is at risk.

This is why the battle over Scripture matters.

It is not political. It is spiritual. The truth is not evolving. The Word of God is not outdated. And the gospel does not need revision.

It needs to be proclaimed.

Where We Stand

The response for believers must be clear.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God” 2 Timothy 3:16

Not some. Not parts – all. We do not need a Third Testament. We need to return to the one we already have. Every page, every word, every truth.
