WASHINGTON, D.C. — Federal agents searched the Washington, D.C., residence of Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar early Monday, October 12, in a dramatic development involving an ongoing federal criminal investigation.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the criminal investigative division of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, carried out the search using a judicially authorized warrant secured by the Department of Justice.
The Justice Department confirmed the operation, stating that the search was part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.
The search immediately drew national attention because Omar has faced longstanding allegations concerning her immigration history, allegations she has repeatedly denied.
Federal Investigators Examine Immigration Records
According to multiple news reports citing sources familiar with the investigation, federal authorities are examining immigration paperwork connected to Omar’s arrival in the United States as a child.
Her late father reportedly completed the documents under review.
However, federal officials have not publicly disclosed the complete scope of the investigation, identified specific criminal charges or released the underlying warrant affidavit.
A judicially approved search warrant permits investigators to search specified locations for evidence. It does not establish that the person whose property is searched committed a crime.
Tom Homan Previously Confirmed Investigation
In September, White House border czar Tom Homan publicly acknowledged an ongoing criminal investigation involving Omar.
Homan said federal authorities were examining reported allegations but declined to disclose investigative details.
Vice President JD Vance also previously discussed plans to investigate allegations involving Omar’s immigration history.
The latest search represents a significant investigative development, although authorities have not announced charges against the congresswoman.
Omar Condemns Search as Political Intimidation
Omar responded forcefully to the operation.
“I’m ok,” she wrote on social media, adding, “I will not be silenced.”
She accused the Trump administration of using federal law enforcement to intimidate political opponents and maintained that the allegations against her were baseless.
Her office stated that the congresswoman had done nothing wrong.
House Democratic leaders also questioned the operation, arguing that its timing and political circumstances raised serious concerns.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no court has determined that Omar committed immigration fraud.
A Biblical Perspective
Scripture establishes the importance of justice, honesty and impartiality.
“Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.” Leviticus 19:15 KJV
Biblical justice requires accountability without favoritism. It also requires truthful evidence rather than assumptions.
Where We Stand
