Trump Orders “Large and Powerful” Strikes on Iran, Warns Tehran a Devastating Attack Is “Waiting in the Wings”

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that American forces are carrying out major strikes against Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz, dramatically escalating the confrontation between Washington and Tehran.

U.S. Central Command confirmed that American forces began striking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets inside Iran at noon Eastern time.

“The United States is, as we speak, striking Iranian Targets near the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump announced.

“The strikes are large and powerful,” the president continued, saying the operation came in retaliation for an Iranian attempt to place additional sea mines in the strategic waterway.

Trump also cited Iran’s launch of eight missiles toward a military base housing American forces in Jordan.

Iran Tried to Mine the Strait

The latest confrontation follows an American strike Sunday against Iranian launchers on Larak Island.

U.S. officials said Iranian forces were preparing equipment capable of deploying sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz when American forces attacked.

Iran subsequently launched ballistic missiles toward a base housing American troops in Jordan.

Trump said Tuesday that the missiles had been successfully intercepted.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most strategically important waterways on Earth. A significant share of global petroleum shipments normally travels through the narrow passage, making any attempt to mine or close it a threat to international commerce and energy markets.

American forces have spent months working to restore safe passage through the region.

Trump Issues Stark Warning to Tehran

Trump did not stop with announcing the strikes.

The president warned Iranian leaders that another round of retaliation could produce an even more powerful American response.

“If the failed Nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level,” Trump said.

He then revealed that an even larger military option remains available, describing it as “the biggest attack of them all” and warning that such an operation could leave “very little” of the Islamic Republic.

The statement represents one of Trump’s strongest warnings to Tehran during the conflict.

Middle East Returns to Dangerous Territory

The renewed attacks come after roughly a month without major direct U.S. military action against Iran.

That period of relative calm has now ended.

Iran has vowed retaliation, while American forces remain positioned throughout the Middle East and aboard warships focused on protecting U.S. personnel and international shipping.

The escalation also threatens diplomatic efforts surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear program.

The question now is whether Tehran backs down or launches another attack that triggers an even larger American response.

A Biblical Perspective

Scripture recognizes that governments carry a responsibility to confront wrongdoing and protect the innocent.

“For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid.” (Romans 13:4 KJV)

At the same time, Christians must pray for wisdom because military power carries tremendous consequences.

“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” (Matthew 5:9 KJV)

Strength and the pursuit of peace are not mutually exclusive. Leaders need wisdom to know when each is required.

Where We Stand

America has every right to defend its service members and protect international waterways from military threats.

Iran cannot be permitted to attack American forces or endanger commercial ships traveling through the Strait of Hormuz without consequences.

President Trump has now made America’s position unmistakably clear.

But this is also an extraordinarily dangerous moment. Another round of retaliation could expand a conflict that has already cost lives throughout the region.

Pray for President Trump. Pray for America’s military commanders and the men and women serving in harm’s way. Pray for Israel and innocent civilians throughout the Middle East.

Above all, pray that strength produces deterrence and that wisdom prevents this confrontation from becoming an even greater war.
