President Donald Trump launched America.gov Tuesday, unveiling a new artificial intelligence powered portal designed to change how Americans navigate the federal government.
Instead of requiring people to search through numerous agency websites, America.gov provides a central starting point where users can ask questions in ordinary language and receive answers drawn from official government sources.
The administration describes the project as a new digital “front door” to the federal government.
Trump unveiled the platform during an event at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington.
“With America.gov, the federal government no longer stands in your way, and it stands only at your service,” Trump said during the launch.
Thousands of Government Websites in One Gateway
The scale of the project is significant.
Axios reports that America.gov is designed to synthesize information spread across approximately 29,000 federal websites.
Users do not need to create an account to ask the system questions.
At launch, the platform primarily helps people locate government information and services. The administration plans to expand its capabilities, potentially allowing Americans to complete forms, applications and renewals through the portal in 2027.
Some government functions remain outside the project, including certain services involving national security agencies.
Because America.gov uses generative AI, users should still confirm important legal, financial or benefits information with the federal agency responsible for that service.

The launch comes as Washington places increasing attention on the global artificial intelligence race.
Trump also hosted prominent technology executives Tuesday for discussions about artificial intelligence and American technological leadership.
Attendees included executives associated with Google, Microsoft, Meta, Nvidia, OpenAI and Anthropic, among other major technology companies.
Trump argued that the United States should continue aggressively developing AI rather than allowing excessive restrictions to slow innovation.
Industry leaders, however, have expressed differing views about how quickly increasingly powerful AI systems should advance and what safeguards should accompany them.
AI Race With China Looms Large
The administration has increasingly framed artificial intelligence as an economic and national security competition.
China remains America’s most significant technological competitor in several critical areas.
The stakes extend far beyond chatbots.
Artificial intelligence could reshape medicine, manufacturing, military technology, cybersecurity, education, transportation and millions of jobs.
America.gov now brings that technological transformation directly into how citizens interact with their government.
