Some stories demand urgency—not because the headlines are loud, but because the soul of the church is at stake. Today’s is one of them. Candace Owens has ignited a firestorm with her relentless, often inflammatory commentary on Israel, Gaza, and the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk. While she promises “truth,” her fixation is sowing confusion, fear, and division—especially among evangelicals who love Israel and care deeply about justice.
Let’s be clear: there is real news that matters right now. First Lady Melania Trump publicly confirmed months of backchannel talks with Vladimir Putin to reunite Ukrainian children with their families—eight reunifications already verified by Russian and Ukrainian rights officials, with more planned. That’s good, tangible fruit in a brutal war, and it deserves prayer and support.
At the same time, the Middle East is experiencing the most consequential shift in years. Following the Gaza ceasefire and the hostages’ release, President Trump addressed Israel’s Knesset and advanced a peace framework with phased steps toward stability and reconstruction; Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has outlined next steps on remains recovery and an expanded Abraham Accords track. But thorny disputes remain—chiefly Hamas’ refusal (so far) to commit to disarmament—proving this process will be contested and complex.
Overlaying all of this is a sharp turn in U.S.–China tensions after Beijing’s rare-earth export curbs. President Trump has threatened “massive” tariffs in response—moves that could ripple through supply chains and pocketbooks alike. Christians should be praying for wisdom for leaders and preparing practically for economic tremors.
What’s Really Going On With Candace?
Owens’ recent monologues have veered from legitimate questions into sweeping spiritual condemnations—calling Gaza’s devastation a “real holocaust,” warning that anyone who vacations there in the future will be “cursed,” and accusing leaders of plotting ethnic cleansing for profit. These clips are viral because they’re incendiary. They are also pastorally reckless.
Regarding Charlie Kirk’s murder: the federal investigation is ongoing. On October 14, President Trump posthumously awarded Charlie the Presidential Medal of Freedom—on what would have been his 32nd birthday—honoring a young patriot whose courage stirred a generation. That solemn moment should unify the movement, not serve as kindling for conspiracies.
Truth Without Love Becomes a Weapon
There’s a difference between contending for truth and weaponizing it. Scripture commands both discernment and charity:
- “Speak the truth in love.” (Ephesians 4:15)
- “Blessed are the peacemakers.” (Matthew 5:9)
- “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” (Psalm 122:6)
A Christian worldview holds two truths simultaneously:
- Governments (including Israel’s, America’s, and every nation’s) must be held to righteous standards; corruption and injustice must be exposed.
- Israel’s covenantal role and the protection of innocents—Jewish, Christian, and Muslim—remain non-negotiable biblical imperatives.
When commentary descends into blanket curses and apocalyptic accusations, it stops shepherding people and starts scattering them. That’s not prophetic courage; it’s spiritual carelessness.
What the Church Should Do Now
Pray—fervently and specifically.
- For the ongoing Gaza ceasefire steps, hostage remains recovery, and a durable peace that protects Israelis and restores dignity to Palestinian civilians.
- For Melania Trump’s child-reunification effort to continue bearing fruit until every last son and daughter is home.
- For Erika Kirk and the entire Kirk family as they grieve, and for justice to be done swiftly and transparently.
Reject reckless rhetoric.
Christians don’t traffic in curses. We speak life. We can critique policies without damning people. We can expose lies without abandoning love.
Engage wisely.
- Support ministries aiding displaced families and persecuted believers in the region.
- Call your representatives: insist on a peace architecture that requires disarmament of terror actors, guarantees Israel’s security, and safeguards Christian communities.
- Prepare prudently for economic volatility tied to U.S.–China tensions. Steward well; fear not.
Final Word
This moment is a test—not just of geopolitics, but of the church’s maturity. We’re called to be lions in courage and lambs in spirit: bold for truth, broken for the hurting, disciplined in speech, and unwavering in prayer. Let’s not mistake viral outrage for prophetic clarity. Let’s live the gospel in a shaking world.
