President Donald Trump says he no longer believes the ceasefire with Iran will hold, delivering some of his strongest remarks yet against the Iranian regime as violence once again escalates in the Middle East.
Speaking during the NATO summit, Trump dismissed the prospect of further negotiations and expressed deep frustration with Iranian leaders following renewed attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. military response.
โTo me, I think it’s over,โ
Trump said
โI don’t want to deal with them. They’re scum. They’re sick people. They’re vicious, violent people. As far as I’m concerned, it’s over. It’s just a waste of time dealing with them. They’re liars.โ
– President Donald Trump
The remarks came just weeks after the United States and Iran announced a fragile ceasefire designed to halt hostilities and create space for broader negotiations.
Now, that agreement appears to have collapsed.
Fighting Erupts Once Again
The latest escalation began after Iranian attacks targeted commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy corridors.
In response, the United States launched strikes against Iranian military targets, including drone facilities, missile sites, and radar installations that officials say supported the attacks. Iran then retaliated by launching strikes against U.S. facilities and regional allies, dramatically increasing fears of a broader regional conflict.
Trump argued that Iran violated the spirit of the ceasefire and suggested the regime has no genuine interest in pursuing peace.
His comments represent one of the clearest indications yet that the administration is shifting away from diplomacy and preparing for a more confrontational approach if Iran continues its military actions.
Although Trump expressed little confidence in future negotiations, administration officials have not formally announced an end to all diplomatic channels.
The Stakes Continue to Rise
The renewed conflict has already affected global markets.
Oil prices climbed sharply following reports of new military exchanges, while investors reacted to growing concerns that instability in the Strait of Hormuz could disrupt a significant portion of the world’s energy supply.
Military analysts also warn that continued escalation increases the risk of a wider regional war involving additional nations throughout the Middle East.
For now, both Washington and Tehran continue exchanging harsh rhetoric while the possibility of another negotiated settlement appears increasingly uncertain.
The world now watches to see whether diplomacy can recover or whether military action will define the next chapter of this conflict.
A Biblical Perspective
Scripture reminds us that evil must never be ignored, but it also calls leaders to pursue peace whenever possible.
โDepart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.โ – Psalm 34:14
The Bible also teaches believers to pray for those in authority.
โI exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority…โ
-1 Timothy 2:1-2
Christians should pray that leaders exercise courage, wisdom, and discernment as they confront nations that promote violence while seeking every righteous opportunity to preserve peace.
Where We Stand
President Trump’s remarks reflect growing frustration with a regime that has repeatedly been accused of supporting terrorism, threatening its neighbors, and undermining regional stability. Peace cannot exist where deception and violence continue unchecked.
At the same time, every military decision carries enormous consequences for innocent civilians, service members, and families across the region. America must remain strong while seeking a just and lasting peace rooted in truth rather than empty promises.
Pray for President Trump, America’s military, and leaders throughout the Middle East. Pray for protection over our troops, wisdom for those making critical decisions, and that the Lord would restrain evil while opening the door to genuine peace.
